Events

As part of our Fundraising activities, we have a dedicated team who aim to organise regular varied events to raise our profile and understanding in the community of what we are trying to achieve as well as a welcome boost to our funds.

Upcoming events

After the major Spring Ball fundraising event we are taking a slight breather before any further events. Not that we are relaxing as it is a very exciting time as we prepare for the imminent opening of our first home in the Consett area.

Spring Ball 2024

Caroline organised this fabulous ball at the Grand Hotel Gosforth with able support from a number of the team and volunteers. We were royally entertained by the Kevi Steel Band during the Welcome reception, had a lovely  3 course meal and then the band Storm did two great sets that got everybody dancing. In between we ran the tombola, grand raffle, silent and live auctions which contributed to an overall profit for the evening of approximately £26,000 - we are truly overwhelmed and blessed by all your support.

Our resident photographer John took loads of fantastic pictures capturing the spirit of the event so click through here to see more.

Burns Night 2024

Gordon, Ruth, Tanya and John manned the kitchen at The Snods Hall producing a traditional three course Burns Supper. Phil led the proceedings as the host looking resplendent in his kilt. The haggis was ceremonially processed into the main hall by piper John Stafford and Eileen, one of our friends from CDCLC, gave the traditional address to the haggis. A very enjoyable evening sprinkled with other Burns poems, a toast to the ladies and some fun games.

Football Fun Night

Our 'Tinkerbell' Kathleen organised a super fun night at Consett AFC. A great turnout of 90 people enjoyed a Pie & Pea supper along with the highlight of the night, the 'Pig Race'!

Huge thanks to Frank & Diane, our hosts at the football club, for compering the event and providing the catering.

Helen's Zip Wire Challenge

Helen, a member of our fundraising team, recently completed a zip wire challenge with company Jelly Legs, handing a cheque over for £420.

After the event Helen said “I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone for your unbelievable support, I could not have done my big zip wire challenge without you all. Thank you all for your kindness and your prayers, you really are the best”.
